Linens and Glassware and Jewelry – OH MY!

The heat has just been unbelievable this week and activity in my Etsy shop has been equally hot! Several of my offerings sold almost immediately – some within minutes – and I got a number of other vintage linens listed as well as some jewelry and the cutest polka dot pitcher and glass set!

I’ve just started to scratch the surface of getting my inventory up on Etsy and more will be coming but these are some of the great new vintage items this week.

Vintage 1950’s Floral Cotton Tablecloth “Styled in Paris”

This 1950’s cotton tablecloth has such great mid century colors (chartreuse , turquoise, soft brown to name a few) and the colors are still very vibrant! Of course the title of the piece “Styled in Paris” makes it all the more appealling. Four large boquets and a nice crisp border show well on any table. I have checked and double checked and this cloth is in really great condition.

Vintage Mexican 1950’s Floral Festive Cotton Tablecloth

This adorable little cotton tablecloth from the 1950’s or possibly earlier. Great festive colors, happy flowers and whimsical characters all add to the overall vintage Mexican style look. This is in really wonderful condition with no stains or tears, normal 50+ year wear.

Vintage Cotton Daisy Floral Tablecloth

Isn’t this a great tablecloth? I just love the bright red and Fiesta medium green colors! Lots and lots of flowers on a crisp white cotton linen background. This great little cloth could be used at Christmas time too, but really just an all around bright colorful addition to your collection!

Jade and Pearl Brooch 1960’s

I didn’t forget about jewelry though and this great little pin has what I assume to be faux jade and faux pearls. I am aging it by the estate that I bought it from although these pins were made earlier than the 60’s. Perfect for the crisp linen collar or your jacket lapel. Works for any age group from little girls to grannies for after all, aren’t we all little girls at heart? At $9 it’s a steal!

Pearl Bouquet Brooch 1960’s

This sweet little brooch is just waiting to be pinned to your favorite cardigan. No idea on the maker on this adorable piece but the gold metal ribbon and scroll work really set the stage for the bouquet of “pearls”. This brooch is in excellent sondition and is wonderful for any season.

1960’s MOD Blue Polka Dot Pitcher & Glass Set

Last but not least is this oh-so-groovy glass pitcher and glass set is a real beauty and is as decorative as it is functional. This set has lovely turquoise colored glass with turquoise, peacock, teal and royal blue polka dots. It is in excellent condition and will look good on your patio as well as on your kitchen shelf.

These are just some of the great vintage items just added to my Etsy shop. I hope you’ll stop by and take a peek!

Cool Things for a Hot Summer!

Vintage Starburst Rhinestone Necklace – Retro Chic

The past few days have been busy but I’ve managed to squeeze in some new vintage listings in my Etsy shop, PMVintage. While the weather has been hot, I’ve listed some really cool  jewelry – including the stunning starburst necklace above.

Also just listed is one of my favorite pieces of Weiss jewelry –  a brooch and earring set with emerald green and chartreuse stones accented with clear rhinestones. Weiss pieces are a step above much of the rest of the costume jewelry from the period and used top-of-the-line Austrian stones. This piece is heirloom quality!

Weiss Rhinestone Brooch & Earring Set Early 1950’s

And while the Weiss is a bit pricey you don’t have to have a lot of $s to be be truly fashionable. This abstract floral pin from the 1960’s is a good example of this and nobody need even know you got it for less than 10 bucks!

Vintage 1960’s Abstract Floral Brooch

What made my day today though was having one of my Etsy items featured on the Vintage Chalet blog. This 1960’s MOD Op Art hatbox caught the eye of blogger Cindy (whose Etsy shop is RetroChalet) and she was good enough to share it with her readers. It most certainly is one of the coolest, retro hatboxes I’ve ever seen!

There are many other new items and more coming online everyday. Stop by my shop and check them out!

Welcome!

Blogging is new to me. While my husband has blogged at the Just a Modern Guy site, this is all a very new and different experience for me.

My hope here is to better connect with collectors, designers and with people who just like fun, unique and classic vintage items to express their own personal style in their dress and home decor. While I have been dealing in vintage items for over 10 years, I have been a collector most of my life. I also have a strong passion for good design and have used that passion in the development of my two store, The Purple Moon and Modern by Design.

I began my selling career online, primarily on eBay about 11 years ago, and this blog is the next natural step to take. I miss the old community feel I used to get when selling on eBay years ago, and have recently launched an Etsy store – PMVintage – to be companion to this blog.  I’ll showcase items listed on Etsy here as well as – both from my store as well as others – and look forward to connecting with other collectors, dealers and lovers of vintage design and style.

Wish me luck!
